Aftab Siddiqui
Aftab Siddiqui is currently working at the APNIC Foundation. He is based in Sydney, Australia. He brings extensive experience in technical and business operations roles in the Internet service provider industry. He has an intimate knowledge of the Internet community, and has worked closely across technical communities, government agencies, civil society, and the private sector across the Asia Pacific. With a deep commitment to advancing the Internet ecosystem, he has worked on critical issues such as technology and infrastructure development, technical and non-technical stakeholder engagement, and policy advocacy.
Ahmed Abdelsalam
Ahmed Abdelsalam is a Senior Technical Leader at Cisco and a key driving force behind SRv6 uSID. He has made major contributions to several IP engineering projects and actively helps operators worldwide in their SRv6 uSID adoption journey.
Ahmed is part of the Cisco team that received the 2025 Pinnacle Award, Cisco’s most prestigious recognition for engineering innovation that opens new markets, redefines existing ones, and drives game-changing improvements in productivity.
He has played a pivotal role in enabling SRv6 support across SONiC, SAI, FRR, Linux, and FD.IO VPP. Ahmed has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Gran Sasso Science Institute in Italy. He holds several patents, co-authored several IETF drafts and research publications. Ahmed is a co-author of the book “Segment Routing Part III – SRv6”.
Amreesh Phokeer
Dr. Amreesh Phokeer currently works as an Internet Measurement and Data Expert at the Internet Society (ISOC). With a deep passion for understanding and analyzing the intricacies of the Internet's infrastructure, Dr. Phokeer has made significant contributions to advancing the field of Internet measurement and data analysis. Drawing upon his extensive background in computer science and network engineering, Dr. Phokeer possesses a profound understanding of Internet protocols, network traffic analysis, and data visualization techniques. His expertise lies in harnessing large-scale datasets to gain valuable insights into Internet behavior and performance. His commitment to research excellence and his ability to translate complex data into actionable insights make him a key contributor to shaping the future of Internet measurement and data analysis.
Anastasiya Pak
Anastasiya Pak is a Senior Marketing and Communications Officer at the RIPE NCC. Her work focuses on external communications, including media relations, content development, and stakeholder engagement. She also collaborates with the research team on data pipeline and data storytelling projects.
Before joining the RIPE NCC, Anastasiya led the Communications Department at an international education NGO. She began her career as a TV journalist in Uzbekistan, covering international politics and diplomacy, UN discussions, and other topics related to international political and economic affairs. Anastasiya holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Relations from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and a Joint Master's in Journalism, Media, and Globalisation from the University of Amsterdam and Aarhus University.
Bhartendu Chaurasia
Head of Network Ecosystem Engineering – EMEA, Meta (London)
Bhartendu Chaurasia leads Network Ecosystem Engineering for EMEA at Meta, based in London. He is responsible for advancing technology ecosystem development to enhance the Quality of Experience (QoE) for Meta’s family of apps, with a particular focus on real-time communication platforms such as WhatsApp and Messenger. Bhartendu’s engineering leadership is instrumental in improving user experience and making the apps resilient to support billions of users globally.
Before joining Meta, Bhartendu was the Head of Network and Cloud Infrastructure at Ericsson, where he spearheaded the design and deployment of next-generation network solutions. With over 20 years of diverse experience, he has held leadership roles spanning technology consulting,network engineering, and leading cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges across diverse business environments.
Bhartendu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and an MBA in Strategy and Operations from the Management Development Institute, India.
Dade Aderemi
Dade Aderemi is a software engineer at DedaSense, an independent consultancy working at the intersection of networking, systems programming, and artificial intelligence. At the RIPE NCC, he worked on Internet registry software, and components of the RIPE Database.
Dade holds an MSc in Security and Network Engineering from the University of Amsterdam, where his research explored decentralised approaches to securing Internet infrastructure and improving RPKI resilience. His current work focuses on building AI-powered and agentic systems-developing tools and architectures that make complex operations more autonomous, explainable, and intelligent.
He is currently based in Dubai.
Dominique Schaeffer
Dominique has over 25 years of experience in the telecom industry and is leading the IP Consulting Engineering team in EMEA which is responsible for the introduction, design and engineering of advanced IP solutions for major EMEA operators and enterprise on the full Nokia IP portfolio. Before joining the team, he had different roles including support, professional services and CTO office. Dominique holds a Master in Computer Science from ESIEA in Paris and a Master of Business Administration from La Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Emad Fahmy
Dr. Emad Fahmy is a dynamic Sales Engineering Director with over 25 years of experience in driving revenue growth and delivering advanced network and security solutions across the META region. He specializes in service provider technologies, including application analytics, DDoS protection, NDR, MPLS, mobile, and cloud-based solutions.
As the Head of Technology for NETSCOUT Systems in the Middle East, Dr. Fahmy leads complex technical sales cycles and implements innovative technologies that help organizations meet and exceed their business objectives. A results-driven leader, he has a proven track record of surpassing targets, expanding market share, and delivering customer-centric technical consultancy.
In addition to his corporate leadership role, Dr. Fahmy is also an academic, teaching MBA and DBA students in the Business Department of leading universities, where he shares his expertise in digital transformation, technology leadership, and cybersecurity.
Fadi Khoneisser
Fadi Khoneisser joined Berytech in March 2016 and is currently the Director of Development and Growth and the spokesperson for Beirut Internet Exchange – Beirut-IX.
As a senior operation executive, he brings his global experience and a 30-year progressive career in the telecommunications industry. He has a demonstrated expertise in profit and loss management, business operations, multi-million dollars contract negotiations, project management, technical engineering and budget management.
He last served as the General Manager of Mirsat part of the Holcom Group, where he planned and implemented the revival of the dormant company. He secured and executed major contracts with the Lebanese Ministry of Telecommunications and the mobile operators.
Previously and for a duration of fifteen years, he worked at Globalcom Data Services – another Holcom Group company. Promoted from the Technical Director position to General Manager, he successfully turned the financially troubled company around, restoring profit and enabling it to become the number one privately-owned data operator in Lebanon. He recruited and managed extremely dedicated teams and ensured that the company provided excellent technical solutions and customer support in a highly competitive market. During this period, he formed key relationships with global telecommunications vendors and operators. He traveled to more than twenty European and African countries to conduct business and attend exhibitions and events.
Born in Beirut, he fluently speaks and writes Arabic, French and English. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering – Telecommunications section, from Saint-Joseph University – ESIB (1993), an MBA from Ecole Superieure des Affaires – ESA (2000) and an Executive Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD (2014).

Gerhard Stein
Dr. Gerhard Stein is Lead Research Engineer at FLEXOPTIX, in charge of ensuring that innovative and amazing prototypes can make it into the market.
Back in the 1990s he wrote small programs and assembled computers and network systems for customers. After his arrival in Germany, he began studying mechanical and process engineering at the TU Darmstadt, continued this at the Ruhr University Bochum, specialising computational engineering and received his doctorate in the field of simulation technology.
Halil Kama
Hans Petter Holen
Hans Petter has been active in the RIPE community and the Internet industry for over 30 years. He was RIPE Chair from 2014 to 2020 when he took on the position of Managing Director for the RIPE NCC. He has extensive first-hand knowledge of IP address policy development from his time as Chair of the RIPE Address Policy Working Group. Hans Petter was also a member of ICANN's ASO Address Council since its formation in 1999 until 2013, with ten years as Chair and Co-Chair. Later on, he served on the ICANN Nomination Committee for five years.
Hisham Ibrahim
Hisham Ibrahim is the Chief Community Officer at the RIPE NCC.
He leads the RIPE NCC's engagement efforts to foster a dynamic, inclusive RIPE community. He is responsible for the engagement with the RIPE NCC members, the RIPE community, Internet governance and training services.

Huda Al Ghabshi is a Computer Engineer with a Master of Science in ICT Management and over 16 years of distinguished experience in the telecommunications industry. A pioneering leader, she has made significant contributions to the evolution of subsea connectivity and wholesale network strategies across the Middle East and beyond.
is widely recognized as one of the foremost experts in her field, driving transformative initiatives that enhance digital infrastructure and interconnectivity. Her impact was internationally acknowledged when she was named Tech & Telecom Woman of the Year 2023 at the Global Telecom Awards, a prestigious accolade that celebrates her outstanding achievements and visionary leadership in a highly dynamic industry.
Huda is pursuing the role of Head of Division (HOD), Data and Connectivity, marking a milestone as the first Omani woman to lead in the wholesale and submarine cable sector. In her strategic role, she is responsible for crafting and executing a comprehensive development roadmap for ZOI’s regional footprint, spanning eight countries: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, and South Sudan.Her focus is on expanding subsea connectivity, optimizing network capacity, and driving sustainable growth through innovation and resilience—ensuring that ZOI remains at the forefront of the region’s digital transformation.
Jad El Cham
Jad El Cham is a network engineer and cyber security enthusiast with extensive knowledge in designing, deploying and securing networks. Passionate about driving positive change in the telecommunications sector, Jad is currently serving as a Senior Public Policy Technical Advisor at RIPE NCC, the Regional Internet Registry serving Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.
His role involves engaging in strategic policy developments and monitoring emerging technology trends. Jad also focuses on capacity building and community knowledge sharing through dedicated workshops and tailored activities for network operators, universities, law enforcement agencies, banking institutions and government regulators.

James Kennedy
James Kennedy is founder of KIPA, an independent consultancy specialising in IP address strategy and operations. With 15 years of experience including IP management roles at Liberty Global, AWS, and as Chief Registry Officer at the RIPE NCC, he helps organisations optimise IPv4/IPv6 resources and build intelligent acquisition strategies. James is an active contributor to RIR policy communities and provides independent IP market analysis.
Khalid Samara
Khalid Samara, a seasoned telecommunications and Internet technology visionary, currently chairs the Middle East Network Operators Group (MENOG) Programme Committee. This international forum is dedicated to advancing knowledge and promoting best practices within the Internet community.
With nearly two decades of hands-on experience, Khalid possesses a deep understanding of operational, Internet, mobile, engineering, and security technologies. His practical expertise encompasses network planning, network operations management, security, and telecommunications policy development.
Since 2005, Khalid has served as a Consulting Telecommunications IP and Security Consultant, collaborating extensively with numerous telecommunications and ISP operators across the region. His extensive experience, coupled with several relevant certifications, makes him a valuable asset to the industry. Currently, he is leveraging his expertise to contribute to Arbor Networks’ mission of protecting critical.
Mahmoud Yousif Albannay
Marco Brandstaetter
Marco Brandstaetter works as Regional Director for DE-CIX and is responsible for Middle East and South Asia. His current focus is on developing UAE-IX as the first 100 percent neutral IXP in the Middle East and helping to develop DE-CIX in India.
Coming from a software development background, Marco founded HAPPYsoft, a software development company, in 1992, and HAPPYnet, one of the first ISPs in Austria, in 1995. In 2003, Marco founded i3b and from that time on he focused on the field of telecom wholesale. After driving forward i3b’s internationalisation as wholesale partner for last mile and MPLS connections and finally selling IP transit, the company was sold to its biggest wholesale customer (2010) and ever since Marco worked as independent consultant in the telecom industry.
Mehmet Tik
Mehmet Tik is a telco industry expert with over 15 years of experience across the Middle East, North Africa, Turkiye, and Central Asia. As Meta’s Edge Strategy Manager, he leads the Edge Production Infra & Connectivity strategy for 27 countries, driving innovative network infrastructure and interconnectivity solutions.
Mehmet has played a pivotal role in expanding Internet access and fostering regional collaboration, and improving Internet quality. He is an active member of regional industry groups such as MENOG, and a frequent speaker at regional industry events, recognised for his leadership in peering and connectivity development.
Mehmet is passionate about bridging the digital divide and empowering communities, believing that robust internet infrastructure is key to economic and social progress.
Michela Galante
Michela is a Senior Community Development Officer at the RIPE NCC. She focuses primarily on deploying RIPE NCC tools and services, such as RIPE Atlas, RIS, K-root and AuthDNS, building strong relationships and engaging with local communities to support their growth.
Michela oversees the efficient global distribution and deployment of RIPE Atlas probes and anchors. Additionally, she manages data collection and analysis, transforming information into actionable insights to guide strategic decision-making.
Michela frequently presents RIPE NCC tools and services at international conferences, promoting the projects and fostering global engagement.
A native of Trieste, Michela has lived in Amsterdam for more than 20 years, joining the RIPE NCC in May 2013. Prior to this, she spent a decade in software development as a project manager.
Mohamed Moussa
Mohamed is an accomplished telecommunications executive with over 26 years of industry experience.
He began his career in 1999 at Vodafone Egypt, where he played a key role in driving substantial revenue growth for the Enterprise Sales Organization until 2006.
Mohamed then joined e& Group (etisalat by e&), where he was instrumental in transforming the sales organization and establishing e& as a preferred provider for large enterprise clients in the UAE. In 2009, Mohamed transitioned to the Carrier and Wholesale division, where his strategic leadership contributed to significant revenue expansion.
Currently, he serves as Acting Senior Vice President of International Data Business, overseeing global engagements and partnerships with Carriers, ISPs, Hyperscalers, CDNs, Satellite Providers, and multinational corporations.
In this capacity, Mohamed leads international data growth, cloud partnership development, and the expansion of large-scale digital infrastructure. With a strong focus on Hyperscaler engagement, Mohamed manages global connectivity, digital transformation initiatives, and cross-border network solutions that support enterprise and cloud ecosystems.

Stavros Konstantaras
Stavros Konstantaras is an enthusiastic all-around network engineer, holding an MSc from University of Amsterdam in the field of System and Network Engineering. His experience at NLnet Labs and the University of Amsterdam has supplied him with valuable skills and knowledge like scripting, system virtualisation and network programming.
He has been working with AMS-IX as a network engineer for the past eight years under the NOC team, which is responsible for the deployment and management of all AMS-IX instances around the world.
His interests reside in the fields of network automation, routing security and protocol implementation. Stavros is an active member of the open communities of RIPE, EURO-IX, NLNOG and GRNOG and a thesis supervisor of various MSc/BSc projects at UvA.

Taha Hussain - technology professional with extensive experience across digital infrastructure, telecom, and emerging technologies in the MENA region. He has been involved in advancing connectivity, data centre ecosystems, and digital transformation initiatives that shape the region’s technological growth. Taha brings a strategic perspective on innovation, collaboration, and the future of the digital economy.
Thomas Holterbach
Thomas is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Strasbourg, France. His work focuses on improving BGP measurement, operations, and monitoring. In 2023, he served as a MANRS Ambassador.
He is currently leading the development of bgproutes.io, a next-generation platform designed to collect, store, and share BGP data more effectively with the Internet community.

For more than 15 years he has been part of the internet community and has specialized in optical networking.
Yasir Zamir Shah Sajjad M Hazrat Shah A Shah
As a Senior Network Planning Engineer with over a decade of experience in the telecommunications sector, Yasir Zamir specializes in core ISP platform maintenance, network infrastructure migration, and advanced network security. Yasir Zamir is known for leading successful, large-scale projects that drive operational efficiency and enhance service availability.
A key part of Yasir Zamir's expertise lies in network planning and design, including the management of critical services like Direct Internet, Broadband, and IP-Transit. This hands-on experience extends to improving network performance through strategic peering with major internet exchanges and ensuring compliance by meticulously maintaining RIPE Database objects for millions of IP addresses.
Beyond technical implementation, Yasir Zamir is a recognized leader in knowledge sharing, having designed and conducted training sessions and workshops for NOC teams on topics ranging from CORE platform technologies to DDoS mitigation. This passion for empowering technical communities informs Yasir Zamir's current work in leveraging emerging technologies, such as Large Language Models, to fundamentally change how network engineers approach traditional challenges.
